sexy Is This Sexy?
P/S: Sorry about the wrinkle, my newspaper is folded half, that’s y a bit wrinkle, hehe.

This issue happened wheni’m down at Kl for my diploma graduation ceremony which i not yet blogged about it. I’ll blog when i receive the complete pictures from Desmond. Since I’m blogger from Penang, lately there’s a hot issue where i think there’s no reason if i didn’t blog about it. It’s another issue related to women. This time it’s not rape or any kidnap issue, it’s about a “stupid” remark made by Penang Municipal Council president Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan over the dressing of women journalists.
Can someone please tell Datuk Abu Baker what is consider dressing as sexy and what is not sexy ? He is juz plain naive or should i say a bit “racism” ? Why do i say racism ? Because the New Straits Times reporter Melissa Darlyne Chow was Chinese. Is a Chinese lady wearing skirt to a knee length is wrong ? Or should they set a “rule” to insist every female to wear “baju kurung” going for City Hall for a meeting ? Okay, i’m not racism but just to give a good example to show what is happening actually. Encik Abu Bakar is no different from the likes of PAS leaders who blame rape victims for their dressing instead of the lust of the predators.

1) Don’t hide up!!

Dr Teng, who is state Local Government committee chairman, said he met Abu Bakar yesterday and the council president claimed that the press had misunderstood him.

“As such, I told him to meet the media as soon as possible so that the matter does not blow up further,” added Dr Teng.
Abu Bakar could not be reached for comments. ” - quoted from (Teng: Don’t skirt issue)

kahpeng >> When you made such remarks, don’t hide up, you should give explanation. Only coward people will say something and hide up, waiting the issue to become hottest topic in Malaysia?

2) It’s not sexy!!

“PUTRAJAYA: It would seem that reporter Melissa Darlyne Chow was decently attired when she went to City Hall in Penang last week, going by a dress code stipulated by the Public Service Department.

PSD corporate communication head Hasniah Rashid said yesterday skirts must be below the knee. - quoted from (It’s decent enough under government dress code)

kahpeng >> Even the Public Service Department head stated that reporter Melissa dressed decently and not SEXY, what can Mr Abu Bakar say now ?

3) Blame the CCTV operator and NOT the reporter!!

Women’s Centre for Change executive director Loh Cheng Kooi said she was extremely disappointed with Penang Municipal Council president Datuk Abu Bakar Hassan’s remarks over the dressing of women journalists.

FEELING VICTIMISED: Journalist Melissa Darlyne Chow, who lodged a police report in which she alleged that the CCTV operator had outraged her modesty, wearing the same clothes she had on during the Friday council meeting.
“The NGOs are trying to encourage victims to come forward and report any form of abuse or harassment and this lack of support for the victim is not helping.

“The issue here is whether a wrong has been committed by the CCTV operator. Instead, we are focussing on what the victim was wearing,” she said, adding that the woman journalist who came forward and lodged a police report should be lauded. - quoted from (Stop blaming the victims, says group)

kahpeng >> En Abu Bakar SHOULD blame the CCTV operator and NOT the reporter. Isn’t that so obvious that he is on the wrong side ? How if someone rape your wife and you blame and go kill your wife instead the rapist ? Funny hor ? Think yourself!!

4) Serious case of harrasment, insulting women!!

Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon said it was inappropriate for Abu Bakar to remark that if the dresses of women journalists were not sexy, the camera would not have zoomed on their thighs. He said the council should instead focus on the investigation on the incident.

State MCA youth chief Ooi Chuan Aik called for an independent body to be set up to investigate the incident.

“The council president should look into how to prevent a recurrence,” he said.

State Economic Planning, Education and Human Resource, Science, Technology and Innovation Committee chairman Datuk Dr Toh Kin Woon said Abu Bakar’s statement was very insulting to women and described the incident as a “serious case of harassment.” ” - quoted from (Council chief slammed over remark)

kahpeng >> Even Penang Chief Minister Tan Sri Dr Koh Tsu Koon expressed his statement that En Abu Bakar should not remark if the reporter is not dressed sexily then the CCTV will not be zoomed at her thighs. As a Chief Minister, Dr Koh know what is RIGHT and what is WRONG!!

5) Abu Bakar owes Penangites!!

Abu Bakar’s warped logic is that the sexy dresses of the women reporters are to be blamed for the action of the Peeping Tom.

There were no promises of a thorough investigation to bring the culprit to book and certainly no sympathy nor apology from him but a quick shift of the blame on the reporters doing their work.

Abu Bakar’s statement is bewildering and certainly he owes Penangites, not just the reporters, an apology for his remarks and we hope he will not claim that he has been misquoted, like many often do when they are pinned in a corner.” - quoted from (No place for sexist thinking)

kahpeng >> En Abu Bakar childish remark has not only upset the reporter but he also upset our Penangites, i guess he is not at home thinking or preparing what he should say in a few days time ?

Conclusion, in my opinion, Datuk Abu Bakar made a stupid mistake putting himself in a hot soup. He should be out of his position because he cannot make a simple judgement. Do we need more evidence to show the truth ? If this problem is not solved as soon as possible, i belive that it will grow big day by day. If every EDUCATED people like En Abu Bakar made such remark, where is the justice stand ? Apologise now !!

Bear think girls should conservatively defensive. There is nothing wrong to put on pants, or wear longer skirt, just in case a pervy is around. Many girls do it to cover her modesty and are not likely to get into situation like this.

If there is a law dictated that the eye of men who look at girl’s exposed thigh to be excised … we will have alot of blind man!!!
