iPhone SLR Mount? It’s REAL !!

If you think that it’s a laughing matter to mount a SLR lens to your iPhone? Think again before you laugh because it’s REAL now!!

For photographers, they know that Diana adapter already exist for SLR mount. Now, it’s another ‘new’ thing for you to play around. However, currently they only have Canon and Nikon mount, sorry for the other brands photographer.

Q & A

Q: Will this work with my [insert camera] lens?

A: We have two mount adapters, one for Nikon and one for Canon. The Nikon SLR Mount works with *all* Nikon lenses (it’s an F-mount adapter). The Canon SLR Mount only works with EOS lenses (it is an EF-mount adapter). It is not compatible with Canon EF-S or FD lenses.

Q: Can I use my OWLE iPhone Video Rig with the SLR Mount?

A: Yup! Both use a 37mm thread, so you can put the mount adapter onto your OWLE.

Q: Can I adjust the aperture of my SLR lens while I’m using the mount?

A: Depends on what lens you’re using! Most old school film SLR lenses have an aperture ring on them. If you’re using a newer digital lens then you’re out of luck.

Q: Hold up, why are the images upside down?

A: The SLR Mount doesn’t have any mirrors inside. Usually there’s a mirror inside your camera that flips the image right-side up. But iPhones are indeed mirror-less, so you’ll have to rotate the images using an editing app.

Q: Why are my photos grainy/splotchy?

A: The Lens Mount uses a focusing screen just like your DSLR. It can get dirty easily since it is relatively unprotected (it’s exposed each time you assemble the mount). Be sure to clean it using an air-duster or soft cloth each time you shoot. You may still see some particles, that’s normal.

Q: My images are coming out a tad darker than I’d like, what’s the deal?

A: We’ve found that you’ll lose about 1 to 2 f-stops when using the adapter. Using an older lens with a manual aperture ring helps control this. Otherwise you may need to brighten up the images in post.

Q: Which devices and firmware versions are supported?

A: In this initial release, the following configurations are supported:

Q: Do the holes discovered by @comex put my device at risk?

A: Yes. We recommend installing “PDF Patcher 2” in Cydia once you’re jailbroken to eliminate this risk (any firmware version).

Q: How does jbme3.0 differ from the existing jailbreaks?

A: jbme3.0 is entirely userland-based, from start to finish. The A5 chip in the iPad2 has no iBoot or bootrom-level exploits yet, so tools like redsn0w, PwnageTool and sn0wbreeze can’t use the limera1n bootrom exploit to inject the jailbreak. Even for those devices where limera1n works, jbme3.0 injects the jailbreak with a userland exploit.

Q: If I’m already jailbroken on the latest firmware, is there any advantage to jailbreaking again?

A: No, but you should consider showing this to your friends! Spread the jailbreaking fever.

Q: Are the holes exploited by jbme3.0 closed in iOS5?

A: The holes still exist in the iOS5 betas, but they’ll almost certainly be fixed by the time iOS5 is public. However because the iPad2 had no public jailbreak yet, it probably wasn’t worth waiting until the fall to use them. If history repeats itself though, there will be more holes and exploits.

Q: Will I permanently lose the jailbreak if I need to restore my device?

A: For all except the iPad2, saving your SHSH blobs should let you always restore your device to iOS versions where this jailbreak works. The iPad2 is a little more complicated. If you have a wifi-only iPad2 and saved SHSH blobs, you’re in good shape. But if you have the GSM or CDMA iPad2, you won’t be able to restore to 4.3.3 or lower once Apple stops signing its baseband. There are a few ideas that might work to get around this limitation, but for now it’s best to assume there’s no going back to 4.3.3 once 4.3.4 is out for iPad2 GSM or CDMA owners.

Q: I heard this new unionfs stuff is dangerous?

A: Define dangerous :) Seriously though, although unionfs is a huge improvement to the install time of the jailbreak, it is brand new code and there is the possibility something will go wrong. Just keep regular backups of your media and content and you should be fine. If there are any problems, they should appear within the first few days, so hold off and let “everyone else” test the waters if you’d like.

Andy Lau & Benny Chan coming to Singapore to promote SHAOLIN!

Singapore, 10 January 2011 – Asian Superstar and lead actor Andy Lau, together with Director Benny Chan, will be in Singapore on 20 January 2011 to promote upcoming Chinese blockbuster SHAOLIN! They will arrive in Singapore, from Malaysia, via flight MH 611 at 10:20am.

What are you doing today ? Any special plan ? I read a lot of tweets and news about people getting married on this special day. Hmmm…as for this site, I’ll be getting my hands back from 09-09-09, today onwards.

Previously, I have been living in hell, always had sleepless nights; busy looking for my right job. Travelling between states for interviews is very tiring and hectic for me. Can you imagine sitting inside bus for 4 hours early in the morning and then the same amount of time at night?

Finally I have been offered a job 2 days ago. I know this is kinda private matter so I will not disclose more about my job, but I just want to let me readers know that I have not abandon this site. Hope to see more updates coming later.

Dattebayo No Longer Releasing Naruto from 1/15/2009

If you’re a Naruto anime fans, you should be familiar with Dattebayo name because Dattebayo has done a great job subbing Naruto and releasing to the public very fast and makes all the Naruto fans (us) loves watching Naruto a lot. However, due to certain reasons, Dattebayo will not be releasing Naruto effective from 1/15/2009.

Anyway, don’t feel too sad because this doesn’t mean that you can’t watch Naruto totally. There’s 2 option for you to watch Naruto online according to Dattebayo:-

[Update:] June 28, 2008 – It seems that they already fix the error/bug.

If you register any domains with MYNIC, I believe you’ll receive announcement in your email saying that MYNIC will be having new website which is mynic.my, launching on 25 June 2008 (Wednesday) at 9am. Earlier today, Chee Aun tweets that there’s ‘Statistics’ page in the new revamp site, so I went to have a look at the new site.

Indeed the site is much better than the old boring site design. Anyway, I notice there’s a bug in the site. The main page where there’s a corner for user to check domain availability seems to return error.

I just noticed this new thing from Google. Have anyone notice Google changed their site favicon ? Before you login to your Gmail account, you also can see the new fav icon. However, if you login to your Gmail, the favicon will changed back to the red border envelope which is the trademark for Google Gmail. You can always view the favicon file directly here:-
